M A R K CHAPTER 5* A large crowd followed and pressed around him. And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.

17 Source At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?”
“You see the people crowding against you,” his disciples answered, “and yet you can ask, ‘Who touched me?’ ” But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”

Good Morning Dan, and a glad Sunday to all.
Favorite #32 - anyone know this artist?
Thank you for posting these instructive lessons Dan.
As she trusted our Savior, can we exhibit the same faith?

Tissot, Hole, Copping, always!
#12 and the marble carving at #28.
#32, how well depicted the tiredness, the suffering, the pleading in the woman’s face.
Another great Ravenna mosaic at #33 and I love the abstract realism of Walker at #35.
Well done, Dan!

Love the story of the Gentile Woman healed “by faith only”. How ironic that Pharisees had problems with that too!
Saving Grace of Christ by Faith follows other Gentiles:
Acts 9 - Son of Ham Saved
Acts 10 - Son of Shem Saved (Paul)
Acts 11 - Son of Japheth Saved (Cornelius)
Not works...but Grace thru Faith.

Glad you approve, Alba.
Even two millennia later, I am happy for her. The four gospels present us with an abundance of folk whom Jesus blessed so wonderfully. And for those who love Him, we are well aware that He dispenses such healings and blessings most liberally.

Not works, nor lineage.
Nice catch: Ham/Shem/Japheth healings.

It has always astounded me how slow the disciples were to finally understand that salvation has come (a) through Jesus' death and resurrection and (b)
even to the Gentiles [double forehead smack].
Their dullness shows how perfectly they represent the common man: Jesus didn't choose twelve Pharisees but instead ignorant fishermen and unholy publicans--and me.
LOL--perhaps the Sanhedrin were just jealous they didn't get picked for the team. "Put me in, Coach!"

Yes—but it does have plenty of competition, your double entendre notwithstanding.

Although many of the images imply, #21 shows a firm warm hand lifting a woman who, under the laws of Leviticus, was more untouchable than the lowest untouchable in India.
A stunning act of kindness and empathy to a woman who in desperation stole what would have been freely given.
